The same Czech prime minister who is selling his country out to the Chinese is suddenly taking a firm stance against the Russians, who present a much lower risk over the long term. When a large part of the Czech political scene was still under the sway of Prof. John Mearsheimer, Bohuslav Sobotka declared in Parliament in Sept. 2014 that EU and Nato expansion can't come at the cost of an escalation of tensions with Russia. Now Sobotka supports Georgian entry into Nato and warns that Brexit could lead to the return of the CR to the Russian sphere of influence. Why the flip-flop? Is he trying to divert attention from his own fawning over China? Or from OKD? Is it recompense to the U.S. for screwing up the Fayad extradition? Or a prelude to blaming Russia for the coming refugee wave? Either way, he seems to be making a last-ditch effort to rally the West and anti-Zeman voters to support him in his effort to stay in power a tad bit longer.
